Finally Jägarexamen in English

Jonas Vildmark Bushcraftcenter are now offering the Swedish Hunters Exam – Jägarexamen in English. Us knowingly, we are pretty much alone offering a complete Swedish hunters education, stretching over a longer period of time, to English speaking Hunters to be.

We have been running Bushcraft classes since 2008, in both Swedish and English. And we have been offering Jägarexamen in Swedish, in different shapes, since 2016 and through the years we often have been asked the question, if we also offer Jägarexamen in English.

Unfortunately, the course literature and the tests aren’t available in any other language than Swedish, here in Sweden. Therefore, we up until now, only have offered Jägarexamen in Swedish.

But after constant and inspiring new requests from our customers, we now have decided to launch our own training in English based upon our experience and material from teaching Jägarexamen since now 8 years back.

So now for the first time, we are offering a unique Jägarexamen in English starting this Autumn on November 6th, 2024.

If you are interested to be in the first group of participants to try out this course, we would be delighted to help you the best way possible. This training is still in the final stages of making but the conditions of this unique tailor-made course, Jägarexamen in English, will be as follows…

The setup

The course literature is still in Swedish, but we offer our own Swedish/English glossary to help translating the keywords of technical components, animal denominations and so on.

You study the Swedish literature at home, with distance support from us.

We offer a number of digital live webinars during which Jonas lecture in English covering the basics of the Swedish course literature, using his own produced English material.

When you feel ready for it, you’ll be taking the theoretical test conducted by an Examiner that takes the language barrier into consideration. He or she can support you if you have questions while taking the theoretical test. The test will still be in Swedish, but you have the possibility to ask the Examiner questions in English during the test.

When on the practice shooting range, Jonas will instruct you in English. And when it’s time for the practical tests, held by English speaking Examiners, Jonas also will be precent in the background as your support.

Note that here in Sweden the Educator and the Examiner must be two different persons. Jonas will be your Educator/Instructor and professional English-speaking Examiners from a Swedish Hunters Association will conduct the tests, both theoretical and practical.

Studying

This will be a unique first-time tailor made Jägarexamen where the initial studies use Swedish books and digital English lectures via Microsoft Teams.

Theoretical test

A digital Swedish test made with the Examiner present in the room. And the Examiner can answer your questions in English. The test is held here in Mid-Sweden.

Shooting training

Gun safety, shot gun shooting and rifle shooting will be practiced together with Jonas, instructing in English, on a shooting range here in Skinnskatteberg Sweden.

Practical test

When feeling ready for the final practical exams Jonas will be present, in the background, to support you while shooting the tests. The Examiner will also be aware of that their instructions need to be in English.

More in detail

This course is set up for you to get an as broad pedagogical and efficient training as possible, based on our experience of teaching the subject.

After you have ordered, bought and received the Swedish course literature package – you can order the books online from Svenska Jägareförbundet – you can start studying the literature and the digital content to your own ability.

Webinars – our interaction then starts off with lectures via the digital platform Microsoft Teams. 10 webinars will be held in English for 2 hours each. Examples of subjects to be touched upon will be the history of hunting, hunters’ ethics, the different tests, game knowledge, safety, field dressing and harvesting the game, different hunting techniques, different weapon mechanisms, shooting, gear and the culture of hunting.

Digital support – via a digital platform available 24/7, you can ask your questions during your home studying and in-between lectures. There you also will receive additional footage and links that will educate and inspire your studying. We will aways be here for you along the way during this training, via digital platform, digital lectures, email and telephone. The digital theoretical Exam consist of 70 questions that shall be answered in 60 minutes in a lecture hall with an Examiner present.

The practical parts of Jägarexamen – subjects like gun safety, range identification, clay shooting, precision rifle shooting and big game shooting on a moving target will be trained on a safe and well-equipped shooting range, with Jonas as your Instructor. The practical Exam consist of 6 handling and shooting exercises that need to be executed with a certain number of points during one day at the examination range.

Price

The total cost of this course depends on how much content is needed before you feel confident to take the final exams. But below we have listed what we consider should be the basic setup for this training.

10 webinars based on Jonas Vildmark Bushcraftcenters own unique lecture material in English, together with our tailor-made glossary and continuous support via internet, email and telephone, 5000 SEK per participant.

2 days of shooting practice at the shooting range including Jonas as an Instructor, range access, loaned shotgun and rifle, ammunition, clay pigeons, clay thrower, Älgbana and target material, 6000 SEK per participant.

Fika and lunch during the time spent on the shooting range, 500 SEK per participant.

Jonas presence during the practical exams together with his shotguns and rifles and ammunition, 2500 SEK per participant and day.

Course literature, the complete book package is ordered and bought by the participant prior to the training starts, 800 SEK.

The test fees (theoretical and practical) are paid directly in person to the Examiners at site. This is so they can register your results to the Naturvårdsverket and the Jägarregistret. The above prices are the basic package. If you want to add extra classes or housing during the training sessions, that will bring additional costs. Let us know if you want us to recommend you any additional services.
